About me

I am a philosopher and a literary translator working at present as a senior lecturer in philosophy at Umeå University, Sweden. I wrote my thesis on Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy of expression, and my current research focuses on issues in the philosophy of dance, at the intersection of phenomenology, aesthetics and the philosophy of skilled performance. I also work in the area broadly construed as feminist philosophy.

I have taught courses on phenomenology and hermeneutics, epistemology and philosophy of science, feminist epistemology, aesthetics, ethics, metaphysics, the history of philosophy, among other areas. Places I have worked at include Stockholm University, The University of Dance and Circus, Södertörn University, Örebro University, Penn State University and several other institutions.

I translate mainly from French and English, but also to some extent from German. I have translated philosophical essays by Adorno, Beauvoir, Derrida, Foucault, Girard, Merleau-Ponty, Nora, and many others, and novels by Virginie Despentes, Milan Kundera, Nadia Owusu and Amin Zaoui, among others.
